What has been written about us

Prof. Jiří Kolář, a president of The Union of Czech Choirs wrote in his article "veni, vidi, vici..." about the outstanding presentation of Alexander Vacek´s choir in Pardubice.

"… The biggest surprise was born in Category of Mixed Choirs. Not known choir "Gaudeamus" (The Masaryk University Brno, choir master Mr. Alexander Vacek) presented itself by outstanding performance in order to show its well-considered, demanding dramaturgy, brilliant vocal technique, natural and impressive expression and, without a discussion, left behind all rivals even the famous choir University of Philippines Singing Ambassadors and Medical faculty Gdansk (Poland). The mixed choir was born that may successfully represent our country in the most exacting world competitions and that become very famous. Its speciality agreed as well in the folkloric category which won too …"

"… In the final competition of Grand Prix IFAS 2002 we had two main "rivals" - Lasenzio Praha and Gaudeamus Brno. Also Lithuanian Choir Balta and University of The Philippines Singing Ambassadors were trying to reach this special award. But the only winner was Gaudeamus again and became the first holder of this significant prize in history of IFAS. So as to complete the list of success of this young choir (founded in 1996) is important to say that won the Rector of University Pardubice prize and as the most sympathetic choir the prize of the audience …"

In April 2003 in Nymburk (The Czech Republic) took place XIII. Annual of International Music Festival of Bohuslav Matěj Černohorský where concerted the Gaudeamus choir. A special guest was the Czech music composer Zdeněk Lukáš, who was very impressed by this choir and said: "In my age 75 years I did not expect any choir to surprise me. Today I heard, first in my life, something I thought was only hidden deeply in my heart, and cannot be realized …"
